   Carlynn Andrews

ARTIST, ILLUSTRATOR

Carlynn Andrews is a self-taught artist from Atlanta, Georgia. Her interest in art started when she was about four years old. At an early age, she consistently drew at school for assignments, which soon became a hobby. During summer camps, her sketchbook would be in close proximity, just in case ideas came to mind. A plethora of these ideas usually came from what she liked and her surrounding influences, including fashion, cartoon characters, video games, and nature. Carlynn would then create sketches from imagination or reference using colored pencils and markers. After many years of drawing, Carlynn developed a passion that led to the creation of “Carlynn the Artist.”

Within her teenage years, Carlynn desired to move towards what she calls "Creating Art with Purpose”. It stemmed from the multitude of challenges in today’s society, including low self-esteem, self-worth and identity, as well as mental health issues concerning African Americans and Minorities. She aims to solve these challenges through her character collections to provoke thought and spark confidence, character, and uniqueness. She believes it is crucial to instill a positive sense of self-worth and confidence in her community, and it all starts with the youth. Carlynn also strongly believes in using her artistic talents and valuable product offerings to teach, inspire, and uplift her community.

In addition, some of Carlynn’s favorites include drawing characters with fashionable outfits and unique hairstyles. These styles mostly range from afro-textured to straight hair and are greatly influenced and inspired by the African-American culture.
